Yoshi Kawano is a fourth generation Japanese Canadian. She and her family were horrified to hear of the recent disasters affecting Japan. They were relived to hear that all of their family and friends there were safe. To help with the relief efforts, Yoshiʼs Sweets is organizing a fundraiser on Sunday, April 10 and is donating 100% of the dayʼs sales to the Japanese Red Cross. Their head baker and cousin Keiron is donating his dayʼs wages to the cause.
Stop by Yoshiʼs Sweets at 2359 Queen St. East in the Beaches on Sunday, April 10th between 10am and 5pm. Write a wish or message on origami paper and make a crane to send to the Tenrikyo Temple in Tendi, Japan. Enjoy a traditional (gluten-free) Japanese dessert of rice and beans called manju, and traditional Japanese drinks. All baked goods are set at a minimum donation. Larger donations are appreciated.
